Fountain Hills Great Fair Each February the Fountain Hills Chamber of Commerce hosts the Fountain Hills Great Fair. The fair is considered by most residents to be the premier event held in the community all year. A great time is just waiting to be had by those who attend. The fair lasts three activity packed days over a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday toward the end of the month. The main attraction of the event is the nearly 500 artists and artisans from around the country lining the shaded Avenue of the Fountains Boulevard. Another popular event is the annual Hot Air Balloon Rally, held at 7:00 a.m. on Sunday. There are great photo opportunities of balloons reflecting against the water with the fountain in the background. Unlike most balloon races, this rally features a unique tradition among the balloonists. Following the launch many pilots attempt a dip of their baskets into Fountain Lake. The rally generally attracts 30 to 40 balloonists. Like the Fountain Hills Fall Festival, also hosted by the Chamber, the event attracts about 100,000 visitors from all over the valley who come to appreciate and purchase fine art and enjoy good food and entertainment. A number of musicians entertain the crowd at locations throughout the fair, also selling their musical recordings. The fair is the perfect way to spend a cool, sunny February day. The air is always filled with the aroma of tasty treats. Ahh! yes the fair. What a superb way to spend a day in beautiful Fountain Hills. The Chamber does a fine job coordinating its events. There is plenty of free parking, clean restrooms, and a helpful staff to answer your questions. Be sure to stop by the Chamber of Commerce Booth located in the same space every year at the intersection of Avenue of the Fountains and Verde River Drive (about half way between the west end and the east end of the Avenue of the Fountains).
