Taliesin West
Frank Lloyd Wright's School of Architecture

High in the foothills on the western slope of the McDowell Mountains lies the world famous winter home of Frank Lloyd Wright, Taliesin West. Wright, America's most recognized architect, died in Arizona on April 9, 1959 but his legacy lives on both here in Scottsdale at Taliesin West and at his summer home, Taliesin, in Spring Green, Wisconsin.

In 1927, Wright visited Arizona to collaborate on designs for the Arizona Biltmore Hotel. In 1937, he purchased land from the US Government near the base of the McDowell Mountains and began building Taliesin West.
