Desert Canyon Golf Club was the first golf course built in the Fountain Hills area way back in 1971, barely a year after the town was founded. It’s a scenic, rolling, desert course with many elevated tees and greens. The fairways here are open, but play tight with a few challenging doglegs thrown in. Desert Canyon Golf Club was voted the #1 Public Golf Course in Fountain Hills/Fort McDowell for 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008. It is definitely the most economical choice for hitting the links in the Fountain Hills area, with AZ resident prices near $30 a round in the off-season. Like many courses in the area, the views are spectacular while playing – in various locations you can see the McDowell Mountains, Four Peaks, Red Mountain, and of course beautiful views of Fountain Hills homes perched on the rolling terrain.
In addition to the excellent golf here, check out the Steakhouse at Desert Canyon at the clubhouse for a great meal. If you aren’t a golfer just come by to enjoy the Steakhouse and the views! The restaurant is billed as “Prime Beef and Prime Views” and it definitely delivers on both counts!
