Rio Verde Country Club

Overview

Rio Verde is one of three golf communities that are part of what is known as “The Verdes.” These three communities are located in the town of Rio Verde, which is about 10 miles north-northeast of Fountain Hills. Rio Verde is a 735-acre, low-density community featuring custom homes and charming villas which are home to almost 1800 residents.

The Courses at Rio Verde

The Rio Verde Country Club features two 18-hole championship courses. These courses are different than many others in Arizona in that they are not ‘target’ or ‘desert’ style courses. The Rio Verde courses have an abundance of grass and are more Midwestern in feel than most Arizona courses. The par 72 Quail Run course was developed in 1973, and the par 71 White Wing course opened for play 10 years later. Both courses offer spectacular mountain views, and with four different tee options, provide a suitable challenge regardless of your skill level. In 2007 a modernization plan was approved and the Quail Run upgrades were completed, while the White Wing course upgrades are underway currently. This $6.5-million revitalization is being performed by Tom Lehman and has been accomplished with no member assessments.

The Clubhouse

Since Rio Verde is ten miles away from Fountain Hills and almost twenty from Scottsdale, the social center-of-gravity is the Clubhouse at Rio Verde. The 27,000 square-foot contemporary, southwestern-style clubhouse offers varied dining and social options. The culinary choices include everything from wood-fired oven pizzas and a sumptuous menu of casual food favorites and spirits, to the formal Copper Room where Rio Verde’s professional chefs and wait staff stand ready to make your dining visits a culinary delight. For those very special events and social gatherings, Rio Verde has a spacious ballroom which is among the largest of private clubs in Arizona.
