Overview
Tonto Verde is one of three golf communities that are part of what is known as “The Verdes.” These three communities are located in the town of Rio Verde, which is about 10 miles north-northeast of Fountain Hills. The Tonto Verde Golf Club is next to and just north of the Rio Verde Country Club. One of the best features of living or golfing in Tonto Verde is its integration into the beautiful mountainous Sonoran Desert in this area. The houses have large lots and are kept back from the fringes of the fairways for an open feeling for both golfers and homeowners. There are captivating views of mountains in many directions, and the sunsets and sunrises are spectacular! Whether golfing or living at Tonto Verde you will enjoy the serenity and beauty.
The Courses at Tonto Verde
Tonto Verde features two 18-hole, championship, target-style golf courses designed by famous course architects David Graham and Gary Panks. The older course, the 6,744 yard Peaks course, is shorter and narrower off the tee than the newer Ranch course. While both courses are target golf layouts (aka desert courses), the architects took special care to ensure that golf would be enjoyable no matter what the skill level of the golfer. The newer Ranch course has hosted a number of professional and amateur events since opening for play in 2002. In addition to the 36 holes of world-class golf, there is an 18-hole putting course for the enjoyment of all residents and guests.
The Clubhouse
The 26,000 square-foot Tonto Verde clubhouse is the central gathering place for local residents and visitors. It offers casual, formal, and banquet-style dining in a comfortable atmosphere. The clubhouse is currently undergoing a sweeping remodel that will bring it up to the latest level of contemporary Southwestern architecture. In addition to top-notch dining, the clubhouse also offers a fully equipped exercise room and a heated pool with lap lanes. Life in Tonto Verde can be as busy or relaxing as you want it to be, truly a great place to live!
