Plat 208 Fountain Hills downtown area is roughly located between La Montana Drive and Saguaro Boulevard to the west and east sides, respectively, and Palisades Boulevard and El Lago on the north and south sides, respectively. The downtown is thriving with development with the majority of commercial building taking place to the north of Avenue of the Fountains which dissects the downtown area proportionally in half. Until recently, Plat 208, the undeveloped south half of the downtown area was virtually barren. Years ago, there was one small building located along Avenue of the Fountains near the intersection of Saguaro Boulevard on the Plat, but the building was demolished. In 2000, the Town of Fountain Hills began construction of the new Fountain Hills Community Center and Public Library which will also house the Historical Society's River of Time Museum. This development is located along La Montana on the west end of Plat 208. The remainder of the Plat will eventually be developed with a pedestrian corridor which will be lined with retail, office, and dining establishments as well as a movie theater and hotel. Other areas of the property will offer public parking serving those businesses. Currently the empty portions of the plat are used as parking areas for Chamber of Commerce Events held along the Avenue of the Fountains and in Fountain Park.
