Fountain Hills Enjoys Thanksgiving Day Parade: Page 2 of 3

Parada de los Cerros, spanish for Parade of the Hills, has been taking place for 18 straight years and is the only Thanksgiving Day parade held west of the Mississippi River. The judged entry event attracts thousands of local residents and valley visitors who make their way to the hills to watch for their participating family and friends.

The Fountain Hills Turkey Trot starts at 7:30a.m. and attracts hundreds of participants looking to burn some calories before endulging in a holiday meal. The Trot is a great way to enjoy a cool crisp November morning in the desert. The Fountain Hills Parks and Recreation Department takes the opportunity to collect non-perishable food items for the St. Dominic's Food Bank from those who attend. The event is followed by an awards ceremony with awards given to first, second, and third place winners in eight divisions.
