Picnics

One leisurely pastime around Fountain Hills is an afternoon picnic. There are plenty of great places to enjoy the day with a picnic basket. A few suggestions are available below.

Fountain Park

Either a picnic ramada or a blanket in the grass under a tree at Fountain Park is ideal for a picnic. The 30-acre park surrounds Fountain Lake and the famous fountain. See Fountain Park listed under "Parks" in the Recreation section of this web site.

Golden Eagle Park

Three picnic ramadas at Golden Eagle park provide for large group picnics. There are also grills and picnic tables available for cookouts, and restrooms. Call the Town of Fountain Hills Parks and Recreation Department. There is disabled access to all three ramadas. Also see Golden Eagle Park listed under "Parks" in the Recreation section of this web site.

Four Peaks Neighborhood Park

Four Peaks Neighborhood Park currently offers one covered picnic ramada alongside a grassy soccer field. Other than during soccer matches, this ramada is a quiet place to enjoy the afternoon with the soccer field as a good recreational area for Frisbee and other games. There are also grills available for a cookout, and restrooms. There is disabled access to the ramada. Also see Four Peaks Neighborhood Park listed under "Parks" in the Recreation section of this site.

Desert Vista Neighborhood Park

Currently, there are no actual amenities for picnicking at this park, but there is a large grass area perfect for Frisbee and other recreation. A blanket is all you need to enjoy a picnic here. Future plans for the park include the proper amenities. The park is located along Tioga Drive between Desert Vista and Tower Drives. A great place to get close to the natural setting of the Sonoran Desert while enjoying a picnic is at McDowell Mountain Park. Two picnic areas, the Palo Verde Picnic Area and Ironwood Picnic Area provide picnic tables, grills, and restrooms. There is also disabled access to both sites. A day use fee is required to get into the park, but it is well worth the minimal charge. The park is located on McDowell Mountain Road. Follow Fountain Hills Boulevard north to McDowell Mountain Road. The park is only a few miles out of town.
