Apache Lake
Tonto National Forest

As the most difficult lake of the Salt River lakes to access, Apache Lake is also the least used. The lake is located along State Route 88, the historic Apache Trail. This section of the Apache Trail is not paved. This long snaking river passes through a narrow rock canyon covering more than 2,500 acres. There are shady areas along the lake's shoreline for beaching boats and camping. There is a marina with docks near the eastern end of the lake.
