Canyon Lake
Tonto National Forest

Canyon Lake is considered by many to be the most picturesque lake of the Salt River chain of lakes. Steep rock walls rise up from the water's edge as the lake meanders back into a narrow canyon. A popular pastime on this lake is a cruise on the Dolly Steamboat that leads visitors back into the depths of the canyon. Access to the lake is by way of the Apache Trail out of Apache Junction. From Apache Junction to just past Canyon Lake at Tortilla Flat, the road is paved. Just the road to this lake is a real treat for the eyes as it passes through the Superstition Mountains.
