Waterways:
Lake Pleasant
Owned by the Bureau of Reclamation, Lake Pleasant is a
watersport center of the west valley. This large lake is popular among
sailors, wind surfers, boaters, and sport fishing enthusiasts. A full
service marina is located right on the lake with a floating dockside
bar, store, watercraft rentals, and boat repair service. The lake also
features cruises on the "Desert Princess II", an 1880's replica
Mississippi Paddle Wheeler Riverboat.
To Get There:
From Fountain Hills drive north on Fountain Hills Boulevard which turns
into McDowell Mountain Road. Follow McDowell Mountain Road to Forest
Drive in Rio Verde. Turn left and drive to Rio Verde Drive. Turn left
and follow Rio Verde Drive to Scottsdale Road. Turn right on Scottsdale
Road and follow it to the Carefree Highway. Turn left and take the highway
to I-17. Cross the I-17 overpass and continue west on Carefree Highway
about 11 miles. Turn right onto Pleasant Harbor Boulevard to the park
entrance.
