Banner sign announces center will open in October.

It's been a long time coming, but work has now begun on the the new Four Peaks Power Center that will be built along Shea Boulevard. The center will be anchored by Target, with an extensive list of other retailers and dining establishments that is scheduled to open in 2002.

On January 10, 2002, representatives from the Barclay Group and Target joined Mayor Sharon Morgan, Chamber Director Frank Ferrara
, Chamber President Judi Yates, and the Chamber Ambassadors in an official groundbreaking ceremony held on the site of the future Four Peaks Plaza.

The shopping center will be home to more than 25 businesses. In addition to the Target Department Store, future tennants include Chevron, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Walgreen's, Sleep America, Pier 1 Imports, and Flo's Unique Chinese Cuisine.

The Four Peaks Plaza will be located on a 36-acre site west of Saguaro Boulevard on the south side of Shea Boulevard.
